Most of the religious world is caught up in the "How little can I do to please God and still be safe in His eyes" mode.  How long would there be any happiness in a marriage if that is the way a husband and wife treated each other?  It's OK to cheat on my wife just once...after all, it's not like I make a habit of it or anything.  In case you missed the point; skipping church services once in a while, is equivalent to infidelity. It is spiritual adultery...whoredom!  A Christian is a follower of Christ, not an occasional visitor, but one who is faithfully devoted; bound by the commitment made when obeying the gospel. Any person who is less than that is on the level of a Judas...that selfish man who betrayed Christ. He has decided by staying home or going fishing or sleeping in, that those activities are more important than serving God. Worse; he makes himself better than God in his own eyes by regarding his own opinion of what is right and wrong just as good as God's.  I am not, of course, speaking of someone who is sick or otherwise unable to attend, but I am speaking to the one who will use any excuse in the world to pursue his own interests.  As Isaiah said of the Jews..."All of us, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way"  and that applies equally well to any of us who decides he knows better than God what he can do to be right in God's eyes.
